I might even make the psychic contact of limited distance, so that the doppelganger needs to stay within a certain distance of the victim in stasis. This is a clue that something is not right to the players, and if something forces the replaced PC out of range physically, then the doppelganger would be revealed. Or maybe the doppelganger needs a helper to follow along in the shadows with the body of the replaced character. It solves many of the problems mentioned by Talysman, such as an extended time between the reveal and the return of the original character.Necropraxishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12716340801054739658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7239577512598038009.post-32037414873812863532012-03-03T00:31:17.176-08:002012-03-03T00:31:17.176-08:00I was just thinking much the same thing, Ed. You took it a little farther -- I didn't consider suspended animation because I like the idea of the doppleganger having to 'maintain his disguise', and it only working as long as his target survives.Keith Davieshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08411665536982769550noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7239577512598038009.post-87665095561998020102012-03-01T14:10:23.967-08:002012-03-01T14:10:23.967-08:00How about this...

The only way it can be initiated is by the doppelganger touching the flesh of its unconscious victim. But, after that, psychic contact can be maintained at any distance.

Additionally, doppelganger ESP has a strange side-effect: It puts the victim in a state of suspended animation. In that state, the victim won't die from lack of food, water or air. The suspended animation ends when the psychic link is broken.https://www.blogger.com/profile/14398295844409607075noreply@blogger.com
