However, some people have been discussing B/X scrolls & Read Magic and suggest it implies that it's more like a "Cast Scroll Spell" spell.

I've never played/owned B/X, so I can't confirm this myself. But obviously, some people out there are playing it that way.Talysmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02162328521343832412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7239577512598038009.post-82056249856983770202013-05-20T19:05:38.545-07:002013-05-20T19:05:38.545-07:00Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the way I play i...Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but the way I play it, a scroll is, as it were, a "pre-cast" spell, but it's "encrypted" by the M-U that wrote it. Read Magic functions as a "decoder" that allows another M-U to break the encryption and decipher the scroll's contents, and from that point on he can cast the spell whenever he wishes since it's now readable by him. So Read Magic does two things: it allows the M-U both to know what the scroll content is and to cast that content at whatever point he sees fit.Christopherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03635743377768116998noreply@blogger.com
