Blanc Logos

Here are three potential logos for Blanc that I've been working on. I probably shouldn't have placed them on a transparent background, because you can't see the true effect I'm working towards. On a white background, the letters are defined more by the negative space (and the shadow) than by the letters themselves.

Anyone have any preferences between the three?

  1. I recently printed out an old pdf of Inferno by judges guild, and got a ghost affect similar to the first two. Hell (forgive the pun) to read as smaller text, but for a single word logo I think the first one works good.

  2. 1st one by a mile. But I'd lie to see one with pure white letters and background gradient fading up to transparency.

  3. Have you tried printing them in black and white or colour? You might want to add a subtle stroke around the edge of the text on the second one - nothing dark just slightly darker than the the drop shadow.

As for my fave, I like #2.

  4. @Rob: I need to lighten the drop shadow, anyways. There actually is a stroke around the edge of the text, but perhaps is too thin. The stroke actually has a gradient applied so that it fades to transparency near the top.

@Norman: wait, do you mean apply a gradient to the drop shadow, or superimpose white letters on an unbordered square with a gradient?
