I've been quiet the last few days because I've been ruminating more on the experience problem and on the next stage in Vol. III: castle and keep construction. There's a problem with simply converting the existing material for a clone, beyond the simple problem of avoiding copyright infringement: some of the notes on page 21 don't make complete sense. There seem to be two or three costs for some items, with no explanation as to what the differences in cost mean. See this post on Thomas Denmark's Original Edition Fantasy for more on this.
I will probably just expand the idea I had of estimating costs by comparison to galleys and sailing ships, or adjust the construction prices from the d20 SRD to make them close to known OD&D equivalents.
