Who wants a giant stone fist?
OK, it doesn't have to be stone. It could be wood, metal ... or living flesh! It might be a statue, or the hand of a petrified giant protruding from the floor, or an illusion, or even a permanent Bigby's Hand that has taken on a life of its own. It might be a magical trap, an object of worship, or a puzzle to solve. It might even contain something clutched within its grip. And although this image shows the fist rising from a dais, the circle on the geomorph might represent a pool or a pit.
The geomorph has one central room (the location of the fist) with a main door in the north and two secret doors along the sides. The three rooms in the east, south, and west are on a higher level and open onto a balcony overlooking the fist. A secret tunnel running under the eastern room connects the corridors that enter the east side of the geomorph.
Geomorph S6 might take a while, since the model I'm building as its central feature is a little more elaborate.
I think I said it before but I'll say it again: I love these new geomorphs. Can't wait until they make it into Dave's Mapper. :)
ReplyDeleteThese just keep getting better.
ReplyDeleteThese MUST get into Dave Millar's mapper that Risus Monkey mentioned! Have you been in touch?
ReplyDelete@Rob: he's aware of them, but I was thinking they wouldn't be worth adding until there were enough of them. I was aiming for 12, but maybe I'll let him decide after I get to number 6.
ReplyDelete@Talysman (and Rob): They're worth adding whenever - it's just that I read comments about wanting to wait, and I've also been busy with cleaning the edges of Dyson's tiles and trying to get his entire series up, as well as a variety of my own projects. (If you like sudoku and similar puzzles you should see the rest of my site.)
ReplyDeleteSo if you want them in, you've got it. It just might take a tiny bit of time. :)
Looks like you chaps have it all sorted. There's no rush, of course - just making sure everyone is networked up! :-)
ReplyDeleteAdventurer: "Ah... the temple of the giant fist... This explains the temple of the giant tube of KY Jelly we found earlier!"
ReplyDelete@Dyson: incidentally, the inspiration for the giant fist was some vaguely-remembered thing from the Wonderful World of Disney back in the '60s. They had a multi-part Sinbad story; all I remember was that Sinbad fought an invisible monster in a gladiatorial arena, and something about a giant spiked fist.
ReplyDelete@Talysman: It reminded me of the old entrance ramp from WWE Smackdown: http://image52.webshots.com/52/1/25/55/2276125550045689680nUcsBb_fs.jpg
ReplyDeleteAlso, would you like me to add your geomorphs to the mapper now, or should I wait a bit longer? :)
If you're ready for 'em. I notice some scaling problems crept in, though, so maybe I should redo 'em and stick 'em in a PDF for you.
ReplyDeleteActually, if you still have them in Inkscape format I could work with that quite easily. I use Inkscape for the majority of my vector graphic and publishing work.
ReplyDeleteI do, although you'll laugh at some of the weird things I did to get the map to look the way I wanted. Each file is about 600-700 Kb, which probably means emailing each separately (I don't have real webspace anymore, so I can't really upload them.)
