The ambush room is a simple idea: instead of a guard room that can be closed off with a portcullis to block passage through the dungeon, there's a room with two exits, both of which can be closed off from outside. Two rooms on a higher level than the ambush room allow guards to fire arrows or pour boiling oil down into the room on the trapped invaders.
The wheels for lifting the portcullis are in a room to the south. Now, though, I wish I had put one in each of the guard rooms instead.
