A couple people were having fun in comments on the Feral Jury post, but I have an entirely different idea for a group brainstorm. Since the Jury is possibly a punishment for greed, that opens the possibility of a whole mythology of punishers for each of the Deadly Sins (Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride.) In fact, I like to think of the Feral Jury as creatures that punish Greed with their own Gluttony.
So, following that formula of using one sin to punish another, what other creatures of punishment would be good?
A "Pendant Tree". Magic pendant comprising a striking finely worked golden and jeweled *shrub*. If asked, the wearer is forced to name the item as a "Pendant Tree." If the asker then corrects them - "That's not a tree, it's a shrub" then ZAPP they get turned into a tree, a "pedant tree".
ReplyDeleteBlogger ate my comment. Errgh.
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion:
Proud Destroyer (Bangga Perusak, if you want to include a weird creature name. It's the same thing, but in Indonesian.)
It removes anything that the character boasts of. This includes deeds. If Thokli of Mingrez boasts that he defeated the Destroyer of Nloksos, then the Destroyer of Nloksos will either have been defeated by someone else, or not at all, and everyone save for the afflicted will no longer have any memory of it being otherwise.
